Account numbers are unique values assigned to individual properties by the State Department of Assessment and Taxation. Account numbers consist of a two digit County prefix (08, in the case of Cecil County), a two digit election district identifier (01 through 09), and then a six digit suffix.
To find an account number on the map, expand the task menu by clicking its down arrow in the console. Then, click on “find account no.”
The screen that appears provides you with space to type in the account number you want to find. Type in the address, beginning with 08 (the prefix for all properties located in Cecil County), followed by the two digit election district identifier and the six digit suffix. Click on the “find” button.
Example: Using the SDAT Real Property Website , you have determined that the account number for Map 11, Parcel 325 (a vacant, unaddressed parcel located on Telegraph Road) is 0809009140. “08” is the County Code, “09” is the election district code, and “009140” is the six digit suffix. You will need to enter 0809009140, the enter account number, into the search function.
The results of the find account number search will then be displayed in the “results” menu. Click on the “+” box next to the phrase “Find Account No.,” and then again in the “+” box next to the phrase “Parcel Files,” to expand the results such that you can see the data that was found.
Putting a check mark in the box next to the account number will make a blue pushpin appear on the map in the location of the property. You can then zoom in on the property by using the “zoom in” tool on the toolbar or by right-clicking over the account number and choosing “zoom to.”
Wildcard Searches
If you do not know the full account number, you can perform a wild card search using the “%” key. For example, if you want to find account number 0809009140, but cannot remember the final few digits, you can enter 0809009% (or any number of digits) in the search function.
Similarly, if you forget the election district code, but know the remainder of the account number, you can type 08%009140 into the search function.
Please note that the results menu can only display 50 results at one time, and thus, if more than 50 entries meet your search criteria, only the first 50 found by the system will be displayed.
